A Reunion After Many Years
Friday, November 13, 2009
This week was a special week for Mum as her younger sister were back from Scotland after her last visit to Malaysia around 15 years ago. Therefore, I had took leaves to be back at home. Tonight we had our dinner in Restoran Alor Akar aka Hak Yee Kai as the locals called the restaurant. So all the for of us (Mum, Dad, Sis and I) with Auntie S and Auntie M came for a small reunion dinner.
Since Auntie S had not been back in Malaysia for a long time, we had ordered most of the recommended dishes in the restaurant for her to try. So what is the must have to order in this place. Of course their baked salted chicken aka beggar chicken.
The taste of the herbs are too overwhelming even for me. Thus, it's even more overwhelming to Auntie S. Nevertheless, the chicken were smooth and tender. Maybe they should reduce the amount of herbs next time. (But according to Mum and Sis, normally the chicken tasted better than this)
Other dishes that we had ordered were Salted Egg Yolk Squids, Beancurd with Minced Meat, Claypot Salted Fish with Pork Belly, Sizzling Fried Red Snapper with Special Sauce and Four Types Beans (Sei Tai Tin Wong).
Salted Egg Yolk with Squids. This was good and the portion was huge and it cost us only RM11. Value for money.
Beancurd with Minced Meat. About average. I guess this is a normal dish that will fares good in most restaurants.
Sizzling Fried Red Snapper with Special Sauce. This was good but I think the chef over fried the fish thus resulting the fish to be a bit hard. I love the sauce. Yummy.
Overall the dinner was good. We can see the 3 of them were having a great time chit charting and talking about recent updates of current lives. After the dinner, we had drop by to Auntie M's house to continue the gossiping. Hehe... :)
