Happy Mother's Day - Sendo No Ya Restaurant

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Today is a special day for all Mothers in the world, it's MOTHER'S DAY. On this special day, we had brought our parents to try out Japanese food in Sendo No Ya in Kuantan. This is the first time they had tried Japanese food. Most items that we had ordered from the menu was consider 'safe' food for both Daddy and Mummy. 'Safe' food in this context is merely defined as food items that were serve cooked since both of them don't really fancy raw food items such as sashimi. So we ordered quite a number of items from the menu ranging from rice, tempura, sushi and sashimi (for Sis, Hubby and I).

The food was consider quite good but definitely not the service in the restaurant. We need to request more than 5 times to get our tea being refilled in a few occasions; maybe due to the overwhelming crowd that came in to the restaurant for this special occasion to have dinner with their family, the restaurant do not have enough manpower to handle it but I think it shouldn't be the way especially when they are charging 10% service charge on the bill. They definitely need improvement on their service. Nevertheless, Mummy and Daddy was quite satisfied with the food that was served for the night. Interested to know what we had for the night, scroll down and have a peek.

A Reunion After Many Years

Friday, November 13, 2009

This week was a special week for Mum as her younger sister were back from Scotland after her last visit to Malaysia around 15 years ago. Therefore, I had took leaves to be back at home. Tonight we had our dinner in Restoran Alor Akar aka Hak Yee Kai as the locals called the restaurant. So all the for of us (Mum, Dad, Sis and I) with Auntie S and Auntie M came for a small reunion dinner.

A reunion after years.. :) Mum, Auntie M and Auntie S

Since Auntie S had not been back in Malaysia for a long time, we had ordered most of the recommended dishes in the restaurant for her to try. So what is the must have to order in this place. Of course their baked salted chicken aka beggar chicken.

Baked Salted Chicken (Beggar Chicken).
The taste of the herbs are too overwhelming even for me. Thus, it's even more overwhelming to Auntie S. Nevertheless, the chicken were smooth and tender. Maybe they should reduce the amount of herbs next time. (But according to Mum and Sis, normally the chicken tasted better than this)

Other dishes that we had ordered were Salted Egg Yolk Squids, Beancurd with Minced Meat, Claypot Salted Fish with Pork Belly, Sizzling Fried Red Snapper with Special Sauce and Four Types Beans (Sei Tai Tin Wong).

Salted Egg Yolk with Squids. This was good and the portion was huge and it cost us only RM11. Value for money.

Beancurd with Minced Meat. About average. I guess this is a normal dish that will fares good in most restaurants.

Claypot Salted Fish with Pork Belly. Another recommended dish especially for salted fish lovers.

Sizzling Fried Red Snapper with Special Sauce. This was good but I think the chef over fried the fish thus resulting the fish to be a bit hard. I love the sauce. Yummy.

Four Types Beans (Sei Tai Tin Wong)

Overall the dinner was good. We can see the 3 of them were having a great time chit charting and talking about recent updates of current lives. After the dinner, we had drop by to Auntie M's house to continue the gossiping. Hehe... :)

Mummy's Home Cooked Food

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Every time when I were back home, Mummy always dish up yummylicious food for me. So for our lunch today, we have a few yummy home cooked food. According to Hubby, he realised that my Mummy always cooked curry whenever we were back and I always answered him back, 'Of coz la, Mummy knows I love curry mar..' (speaking with a cheeky smile) There's another must have on the dining table most of time when I am around but this time it was missing. So guys, wanna guess what is the 'must have' dish? Hopefully Mummy will make it when I go back the next trip so that I can snap the picture of it.

So for our lunch today, we have a few yummy home cooked food. One of them is using the leftover pork trotter vinegar gravy that I had cooked. Mummy added pork belly into the gravy and VOILA!; we had another round of sourish, spicy and sweet pork belly vinegar. Since I had just mentioned curry was my favourite, we had wild boar curry. According to Mummy, the wild boar meat was given by our neighbour every time he came back for hunting. Of course Mummy tried to boiled soup for us too - pig intestine soup. It's not actually my 'cup of soup' coz I don't eat internal organs. Nevertheless, the soup is good.

With so many meaty dishes, we need to strike a balance too. We had simple stir-fry vegetables and not forgotten we had dessert too, but too bad I was too engrossed in eating them that I forgot to snap a picture of it. It's bird nest!! Yum yum.. It feels so good to be back at parents' place. I will have lots of good and yummy food and most importantly it's Mummy's home cooked food. I MISS HOME now... Sob sob.... Hope to go back again soon.. :)

Muhibah Seafood Restaurant

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Hubby and I were back to my hometown for Father's Day celebration. I didn't bake any cake for this occasion coz Daddy is not really a cake lover. Therefore, I had brought back some Chinese dishes instead; refer my earlier post 1 and 2. Since I started to learn how to cook, Daddy, Mummy and Sis never really had the opportunity to sample the food I cooked. So, I am hoping that I can dish up different stuffs every time when I were back home.

For this year Father's Day, we went for a simple dinner in a seafood restaurant in Padang Lalang area. Muhibah Seafood Restaurant is famous for their shark's meat dishes. We were among the first few customers who had arrived at the place since tonight will be a 'hot' night where lots of family going out for 'makan' celebration.

When I was small, I never really know the meaning of Father's or Mother's Day but as the years passed by and the older I am, I realised that these days are extremely meaningful for all the unconditional love and care they had showered us from the day we were born. Of course, we shall treat not just today but everyday as Father's and Mother's Day to show our gratitude and appreciation to them.

Message to my parents :
I LOVE YOU DADDY AND MUMMY!
HOPE YOU GUYS STAY HEALTHY AND HAPPY ALWAYS!

A Blast From The Past

Monday, May 18, 2009

As we were shifting place, there's a lot of forgotten stuffs that came to light again. When I saw Daddy riding the Vespa that day, it brings back all the memories when I was small. He used to bring me along for a short ride when I was pestering for 'kai kai'. The Vespa was basically older than I am. Hubby took me for a ride on the Vespa. It certainly bring back those childhood memories. It seems like just yesterday I was on the bike with Daddy. Hubby even commented that the bike is in a better condition than the bike he have back in KL. Can you imagine how lasting the stuffs back in the old days where a 30 years plus bike better than a 9 years old bike.

The second item that is worth to post will be a ROBOT toy we had when we were small. I guess when we were small, we were quite fortunate coz our parents were willing to fork out money for our toys. This robot actually can move with some pictures being display on his tummy. Sure it was an 'IN' toy during our days. The condition of it was still so GOOD. We (my sis and I) were obedient children back then. All toys were kept in tip top condition.

I have a picture here. Can you guess what is this?? No idea?

For those who smokes, I think you'll roughly have an idea what is this. It was actually strips from boxes of cigarettes - DOUBLE ACE brand. My Ah Ma (Grandma) was a smoker back then. She used to cut up the boxes and weaved it to become basket. I remembered of helping out cutting the cigarette boxes to strips for her. So innovative right? Mum still keeps it, and the baskets were seen on the living room. So I can't resist but snapped pictures of them.

Another 'rare' thing in my house will be a cute looking 'jukebox' sitting at the tv cabinet. This 'jukebox' is actually a radio. I think my parents got it as a freebie after purchasing lots and lots of Guinness. Wakaka....

This cute 'jukebox' is still functionable..

Time for advertistment.. Guinness.. LOL..

Our New Place

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Mum had decided to change the date of shifting to our new place from the initial May 13 to May 10 instead. According to her, it's a more auspicious day for the occasion and due to convenience wise, it's better to shift during weekend instead of weekday. Me and Hubby went back to my hometown the following Friday. So I guessed I am lucky to escape most of the work load of shifting house but of course there's still some work for us to finish up during our weekend stay which is transporting 'antiques' from our paternal side old house in Kampung Baru.

I guess old folks have the tendency of keeping most of the old items in the house with the general statement: 'Cannot throw lar all these stuffs, they still can be used' and 'I know where to put the old furniture lar, don't you worry, I can find space for them'. Oh boy, these statements applies to all stuffs, you named it ranging from cookery stuffs to furnitures and even small items. I almost 'pengsan' looking at some of the old furnitures that Mum insisted to take back to our new place. Below are some of the photos taken from our new house.

Oh ya, there's a funny moment that kept flashing back in my head while I was typing this post which was me and Hubby initially was supposed to drove Daddy back to our old place so that Daddy can ride his old Vespa back to the new place. When we reach our old place, beside the Vespa, there's still an old bicycle which belongs to me sitting there. Hubby came out with the idea of him cycling the bicycle back too. Can you just picture the scenario that moment, I was driving the car, Daddy was on his Vespa and Hubby on the bicycle. Three of us on the same route back home but with three different mode of transportation. How cute!

I was practically trailing both of them on the road. From the back I saw Daddy riding the his Vespa with so much ease and Hubby was practically sweating like a pig on the road. Haha, I think Hubby was 'regreting' his decision on hopping on the bicycle. Unfortunately during that moment, I didn't have a camera in hand to capture both of them. Fortunately, I came back just in time to snap Hubby on the bicycle. Hehe..

I finally ARRIVED!! Woohoo!!

Trying to do stunts I supposed...
