Happy Mother's Day - Sendo No Ya Restaurant

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Today is a special day for all Mothers in the world, it's MOTHER'S DAY. On this special day, we had brought our parents to try out Japanese food in Sendo No Ya in Kuantan. This is the first time they had tried Japanese food. Most items that we had ordered from the menu was consider 'safe' food for both Daddy and Mummy. 'Safe' food in this context is merely defined as food items that were serve cooked since both of them don't really fancy raw food items such as sashimi. So we ordered quite a number of items from the menu ranging from rice, tempura, sushi and sashimi (for Sis, Hubby and I).

The food was consider quite good but definitely not the service in the restaurant. We need to request more than 5 times to get our tea being refilled in a few occasions; maybe due to the overwhelming crowd that came in to the restaurant for this special occasion to have dinner with their family, the restaurant do not have enough manpower to handle it but I think it shouldn't be the way especially when they are charging 10% service charge on the bill. They definitely need improvement on their service. Nevertheless, Mummy and Daddy was quite satisfied with the food that was served for the night. Interested to know what we had for the night, scroll down and have a peek.

Crocodile Rock Restaurant

Saturday, December 26, 2009

Our whole family decided to go and try something different for dinner. Since Mum and Dad rarely take western food, we decided to go to Crocodile Rock Restaurant in Kuantan. The restaurant was actually a one storey bungalow setup restaurant. You can opt to sit indoor or outdoor once you were inside but being an air-cond person like me, of course I'll choose indoor. (I wanna be eating the food and not being food to the mosquitoes in the area especially during night time.... :D )

One big happy family.... :)

Their menu.

Ordering food for our parents are definitely a 'hard' task since both of them don't really fancy anything that is cheesy and Dad (not a beef or lamb lover). Thus we had ordered a grilled chicken for Dad and salmon steak for Mum. Both commented their main dishes were good. As for me, I had ordered Carbonara Spaghetti, Hubby ordered Beef Burger, Sis ordered Rib-Eye Steak and Pizza Margherita for all of us to share. Overall, the dining experience is the place is good. Their setup is cosy and is a good place for friend to dine in and catch up.

Restoran Southern

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

I assumed procrastination is really the thief of time. OMG, looking back at my blog now, I had realised that I had not been actively blogging since November. Here's another post that was supposed to be published long time ago. A continuation of food post on dinner with Auntie S while she was back in Malaysia. This time, we were having our dinner in Restoran Southern in Kuantan. This restaurant is famous for their roasted duck. Every year during CNY, we need to make an early booking to get their duck. So Mum and Dad decided to bring Auntie S for dinner in this place. We were practically walking to this restaurant since it is really nearby our new place. I guess around 5-7 minutes of walking distance only (very near right?). Sorry guys, I forgot to take down their shop address. Just ask around for Restoran 'Nam Fong' if you happens to be around in Kuantan town. Locals should be very familiar with this place.

Look out for their bright restaurant signage.

Or better still, a BIG gigantic roast duck signage.

We wanted to order their specialty duck but to our disappointment, they were sold out. Can you imagine that and it was just around 7pm plus. So be early guys if you wanted to try their duck. So we ordered a few order items to compensate our disappointment.

Kung Po Chicken - GOOD

Sweet and Sour Fish Fillets - above average.

Mui Choy Kau Yok - GREAT STUFF!

Old Cucumber Soup

Claypot Beancurd - above average.

Stir Fry Choy Tum - very fresh and crunchy.

All the above items total up to around RM60 with 5 rice and 5 drinks. Quite reasonably priced dinner as quoted by my Auntie S. I guessed she was converting the RM to £. Overall is a good dinner experience, nothing beats the laughter of Mum and Auntie S busy chatting up during dinner. :)

Mummy's Home Cooked Food

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Every time when I were back home, Mummy always dish up yummylicious food for me. So for our lunch today, we have a few yummy home cooked food. According to Hubby, he realised that my Mummy always cooked curry whenever we were back and I always answered him back, 'Of coz la, Mummy knows I love curry mar..' (speaking with a cheeky smile) There's another must have on the dining table most of time when I am around but this time it was missing. So guys, wanna guess what is the 'must have' dish? Hopefully Mummy will make it when I go back the next trip so that I can snap the picture of it.

So for our lunch today, we have a few yummy home cooked food. One of them is using the leftover pork trotter vinegar gravy that I had cooked. Mummy added pork belly into the gravy and VOILA!; we had another round of sourish, spicy and sweet pork belly vinegar. Since I had just mentioned curry was my favourite, we had wild boar curry. According to Mummy, the wild boar meat was given by our neighbour every time he came back for hunting. Of course Mummy tried to boiled soup for us too - pig intestine soup. It's not actually my 'cup of soup' coz I don't eat internal organs. Nevertheless, the soup is good.

With so many meaty dishes, we need to strike a balance too. We had simple stir-fry vegetables and not forgotten we had dessert too, but too bad I was too engrossed in eating them that I forgot to snap a picture of it. It's bird nest!! Yum yum.. It feels so good to be back at parents' place. I will have lots of good and yummy food and most importantly it's Mummy's home cooked food. I MISS HOME now... Sob sob.... Hope to go back again soon.. :)

Muhibah Seafood Restaurant

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Hubby and I were back to my hometown for Father's Day celebration. I didn't bake any cake for this occasion coz Daddy is not really a cake lover. Therefore, I had brought back some Chinese dishes instead; refer my earlier post 1 and 2. Since I started to learn how to cook, Daddy, Mummy and Sis never really had the opportunity to sample the food I cooked. So, I am hoping that I can dish up different stuffs every time when I were back home.

For this year Father's Day, we went for a simple dinner in a seafood restaurant in Padang Lalang area. Muhibah Seafood Restaurant is famous for their shark's meat dishes. We were among the first few customers who had arrived at the place since tonight will be a 'hot' night where lots of family going out for 'makan' celebration.

When I was small, I never really know the meaning of Father's or Mother's Day but as the years passed by and the older I am, I realised that these days are extremely meaningful for all the unconditional love and care they had showered us from the day we were born. Of course, we shall treat not just today but everyday as Father's and Mother's Day to show our gratitude and appreciation to them.

Message to my parents :
I LOVE YOU DADDY AND MUMMY!
HOPE YOU GUYS STAY HEALTHY AND HAPPY ALWAYS!

Zhen Kung Fu Restaurant

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

We had the opportunity to taste some of Teochew dishes during the weekend back hometown. The boss of the restaurant had invited my parents over to his restaurant to sample the dishes in his restaurant which is just situated nearby our new place. The environment of the restaurant is airy and comfortable. There was a lot of other guests around there when we were there. We were served with hot and scrumptious Teochew cuisine. Some of the photos taken before we sampled them. We can eat the dishes with either rice or porridge.

Herbal Tea Egg - to quench your thirst especially on a hot day

I would definately recommend the braised duck. It is a must have on the table. The Teochew are very well known for this speciality dish. The duck is simmered for at least 2 hours over small flame with various spices. Therefore, the gravy of this dish is very flavourful and aromatic. I am too engrossed in eating til I had totally forgotten to snap the braised eggs on the table.

So if you wanted to try something different, why not drop by to try out the dishes there? While you were there, do give me a call to check out whether I am around since it was just nearby my parents' place so that you can 'belanja' me as well. ;) The address of the restaurant:

B-9766 Jalan Haji Ahmad, 25300 Kuantan, Pahang
