Hing Ket Grill House

Saturday, July 11, 2009

We went to explore a dining place where their specialities items were grilled meat and seafood. The place were famous among food bloggers since there were many blog post about this place, Hing Ket Grill House located in Kampung Jawa, Klang. As usual Hubby and I went to explore this place with our usual 'makan kakis'. We were there early to avoid the crowd and also to secure ourselves parking slots since parking were kinda limited there.

Once we reach the restaurant, we were greeted with outstanding smoky flavour and nice aroma of grilled food. Simply appetising! Since we had researched the place earlier prior to our visit, we decided to try on a few of their 'must eat' items. Indeed, the few items we ordered were really good especially their grilled lamb. The lamb were juicy, chewy and tender yet they were not too oily too. Just the way I love them to be. The second dish that was as good was their grilled crab. The crabs were fresh and juicy. For the other two dishes, it was above average.

So for grilled food lovers, this is a place that you guys must visit. Don't wait any longer ya!

MGS Gathering at Bubba Gump Shrimp

Saturday, July 4, 2009

It was a fun filled gathering for the 12 of us tonight. We had a gathering among our secondary school friends in Bubba Gump Shrimp Sunway Pyramid. As usual, the date and time had to be decided much earlier in order to accommodate the majority of us. I'll say that yesterday gathering was a successful one coz there were 12 of us sitting together chatting and gossiping about our current lives and etc. This gathering was able to happen thanks to our dear organiser, MC who had taken the trouble to book the venue and sent reminders to us as the date was getting nearer. THUMBS UP - MC!! ^clap clap^

So you guys must be wondering who went for our gathering that night? Had a good look at the pictures to see for yourself (of coz this is only applicable to those who know us lar... hehe)

Pineapple Fried Rice

Friday, July 3, 2009

What should we do when we have leftover rice? The answer is very simple, we make FRIED RICE! There are a lot of varieties of fried rice that we can make. So for this round, we had pineapple fried rice. The main ingredient of this fried rice is pineapple. It's best that we can use fresh pineapple but canned pineapple is as good too. For a lazy person like me, I'm gonna use canned pineapple since I'm not that good in cutting pineapple. The rest of ingredients we can put in the fried rice is up to individual preference.

Ingredients

2 cup cooked rice, preferably several days old
1 shallots, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp dried shrimps, soaked
1 canned pineapple, cubed
50g chicken, cubed (marinade with oyster sauce, salt, pepper and sesame oil)
2 eggs, beaten (add in a little salt)
40g fried/roasted cashew nuts
1/2 cup green peas
1/2 cup corns
1/2 cup raisins
1 1/2 tbsp chicken stock
1 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp oil
3 stalks spring onion (optional)

Methods
  1. Heat up oil. Add in beaten eggs and pan-fry until cooked. Dish up and sliced the eggs thinly.
  2. Heat up oil again. Stir-fry shallots, garlic and dried shrimps until fragrant.
  3. Add in chicken cubes. Stir fry until brown.
  4. Add in rice and seasoning and break up any lumps of the rice. Stir-well until the colour of rice is even.
  5. Add in pineapple, cashew nuts, peas, corns and raisins. Stir-fry until all mixed in.
  6. Dish up and serve with thinly sliced eggs.
