Rolls.. Good as a filler for bento..

More rolls...

This will be a very good finger food especially for making bento. It's simple and super easy to prepare. We can use other types of vege as well to make this rolls according to your own preferences e.g long beans, bamboo shoots and etc..

Ingredients
Asparagus (cut into the length u desired)
Streaky bacon

Teriyaki sauce:
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup *mirin (sweet rice wine) (soy sauce : mirin = 1:1)
2 tbsp sugar

Methods
  1. For teriyaki sauce: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Stir the mixture well. Put it on medium heat and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to low and simmer for a couple minutes. Stop the heat and cool the mixture. Store the sauce in a clean bottle in the fridge.
  2. For the rolls: Cut and trim the asparagus stalks till desired length.
  3. Bring water to boil in a saucepan. Add in asparagus and simmer around 5 minutes or till cooked. Drain and set aside.
  4. Rolled streaky bacon around few stalks of asparagus (3-4 stalks). Put the rolls tightly next to each other in a small bowl (to help prevent them from unrolling).
  5. Place 1 tbsp of teriyaki sauce on each rolls.
  6. Heat up a little oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry the bacon and asparagus rolls on both sides until the bacon is cooked and lightly browned.
Glaze the rolls with the extra sauce in the bowl as you are frying them.
